Every candidate who joins this platform agrees to these principles. They are not negotiable. They are not open to corporate interpretation. They are what we mean when we say we work for working people.
Healthcare is a human right
Every person deserves access to healthcare regardless of their income, employment status, or zip code. We support universal, publicly funded healthcare and oppose any legislation that cuts, privatizes, or restricts access to Medicaid, Medicare, or public health programs.
Workers come before shareholders
We support a living wage, the right to organize, overtime protections, and safe working conditions. We oppose union-busting, right-to-work laws, and the continued transfer of wealth from workers to the investor class.
Housing is a necessity, not an investment vehicle
Every person deserves a stable, affordable place to live. We support tenant protections, social housing, and restrictions on speculative real estate practices that price working families out of their own communities.
Public education must be fully funded
Every child deserves a quality public education. We oppose the defunding and privatization of public schools. We support canceling student debt and making public college tuition-free.
The climate crisis demands immediate action
We accept the scientific consensus on climate change without qualification. We support aggressive investment in clean energy, a just transition for fossil fuel workers, and holding corporations accountable.
Civil rights are non-negotiable
We stand unconditionally for the rights of Black Americans, Indigenous peoples, immigrants, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and every marginalized community. We will not trade their rights for votes.
Democracy belongs to people, not donors
We oppose Citizens United and the entire architecture of dark money in politics. We support public campaign financing, ranked choice voting, automatic voter registration, and every measure that makes government more responsive to citizens.
Wealthy individuals and corporations must pay their share
The concentration of wealth at the top is the result of policy decisions made by politicians funded by those who benefit. We support progressive taxation and closing loopholes that allow billionaires to pay lower rates than their employees.
No more endless wars. Stop funding genocide.
The United States has spent trillions on military interventions that serve defense contractors, not working people. We oppose the funding of military operations that result in civilian massacres, including the ongoing U.S.-funded assault on Gaza. We support a foreign policy built on diplomacy, human rights, and international law — not weapons exports and unconditional support for governments committing war crimes.

This platform will never charge you a subscription. There are no premium tiers, no feature paywalls, no commission on donations. The tools we build are yours.
But we're going to be honest about something the fine print usually hides: some of the most valuable data in politics — comprehensive local race databases, verified election deadlines, hyperlocal candidate filings — is owned by third-party organizations that charge for API access. Ballotpedia charges thousands of dollars per year for data that makes the open seat tracker genuinely complete at the city council and school board level.
Here is exactly how we handle that:
The Commons Model
When a paid data source would meaningfully improve a feature for every candidate on the platform, we tell you openly: what it costs, what it unlocks, and how many candidates contributing would make it sustainable. The first candidates who fund access unlock it permanently — for every current and future candidate, in every district, at every level.
- ✓We name the cost before asking for it. No surprises. You'll see exactly what a data source costs, broken down to what each contributing candidate's share would be.
- ✓Every feature works without it. Paid data sources enhance features — they don't gate them. The free version is genuinely useful.
- ✓Once unlocked, it stays unlocked. A candidate in Wisconsin who contributes toward Ballotpedia access is directly funding better tools for a candidate in Georgia they'll never meet. That's not a side effect — that's the point.
- ✓We publish our costs. Every dollar that goes toward platform infrastructure is publicly disclosed. We are building shared infrastructure — you should be able to see what it costs to run it.
This is the same principle behind every union, co-op, and mutual aid network that has ever worked: when working people pool resources, they build something none of them could afford alone.
The Line in the Sand
Most political platforms tell you what they're for. We're also going to be clear about what we won't allow — because a platform that claims to serve working people while welcoming those who exploit them is not a platform. It's a con.
- ✕Candidates who accept corporate PAC money or dark money contributions. If a corporation is funding your campaign, you work for them — not for the people in your district. Hard disqualification.
- ✕Candidates who oppose abortion rights or bodily autonomy. The right to make decisions about one's own body is fundamental. There is no version of working-class politics that requires women to surrender control over their lives.
- ✕Candidates who oppose LGBTQ+ rights or use our platform to target marginalized communities. Full stop.
- ✕Candidates who support privatizing Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. These programs keep tens of millions of Americans out of poverty.
- ✕Self-described conservatives running as "independents" to circumvent accountability. We are a left-populist platform. We are not a home for rebranded Republican politics.
- ✕Corporate Democrats who use progressive language while voting for corporate interests. The problem we're solving is not just Republicans. It is an entire political culture that treats corporate donors as the real constituency.

If you ever leave the platform, you receive a full export of every piece of data associated with your campaign within 14 business days. No hostage data.
Transparent Enforcement
If we believe a candidate has violated these principles, we follow a documented process: formal notice, opportunity to respond, and an appeal window before any account action.
We Build With You
This platform is built in public. Candidates see what we're working on, request features, and provide feedback that shapes what gets built next. You are not a user — you are a stakeholder.
The Candidate Agreement
When you create a candidate account on Party of You, you are agreeing to the following:
I will not accept contributions from corporate PACs, dark money groups, or any entity that exists to advance corporate political interests.
I agree with and will campaign on the core platform above. I may have additional positions. I may emphasize different issues depending on my district. But I do not fundamentally oppose any of the eight planks.
I understand that the platform can terminate my access if I violate these commitments, and that I will receive a full export of my campaign data within 14 business days of any account closure.
I am not a conservative candidate. I am not a candidate funded by or primarily accountable to corporate donors. I am running to represent the people in my district — especially the ones who have been ignored the longest.
