State Voter File Guide

State voter files are public record. Every state maintains a list of registered voters and is required to make it available. Most states provide files free or for a small processing fee to registered candidates and political committees. You generally need to be a registered candidate or have a committee ID to request one.

📋 Before you request: Register your campaign committee with your state first. Most states require a committee ID on voter file requests. Get your EIN from the IRS (Form SS-4, free online), open a campaign bank account, then register with your state's campaign finance office. This usually takes 1-2 weeks.
